Any CathLab nurses out there? Question for you...

Wait 5 sec.

I work in GI endoscopy, got an urgent call yesterday from the cath lab asking if we had any "raptors" (an endoscopic grasper tool) that we could bring them. I ran the two sizes we stock upstairs to and then later got a phone call asking for another since the first one they used "broke". My question.... WTF could have possibly been going on in there?! What could possibly need one of these? And how is it even possible that something this big would be used in cathlab? Genuine question, I've never worked in Cath lab but it just seems like they would be working with much smaller diameter tools to me.... This thing can't even open its jaws without a good 14mm of clearance side-to-side and needs to be advanced outside the scope about that far to actuate. I can only assume a chamber of the heart would be big enough? Side note: this is a stock photo found online. Didn't hand them an expired one 😅 submitted by /u/aaronsa86 [link] [comments]
