I’ve been a nurse for 1.5 years, working medsurg now with a goal to do adolescent psych eventually. Psych was my main goal but started with med surg to get some medical background first. Besides the VA’s psych stuff, there’s only really one psych hospital by me without commuting for almost an hour. After this job pays off my student loans (should be done in the next 4-5 months) I want to switch. However, last week I had a patient who worked at that facility as a nurse. She sounded like she worked a higher up role, probably management. We got to talking about the facility since I had always been interested in it. I only had her for the one shift, it was a random one work day and when I returned 2 days later she was already gone. Would it be weird to apply there shortly after caring for her (by shortly, I mean within the next 6 months) where I’d possibly end up seeing her? I mean, I saw her at rock bottom where she was throwing up every 5 seconds, was having a panic attack and cursing at me/the day nurse when she was getting passed onto me before I could even say hello (moreso yelling about the doctors, not aimed at us), etc. By the end of my shift, she was laughing and making jokes with me, but I’d still probably get embarrassed working with someone that took care of me during that. Obv this all is heavily based on if they’d even hire me, but theoretically submitted by /u/AdDear8972 [link] [comments]
