Mikel Arteta is understandably livid that Arsenal were knocked out of the League Cup by a fourth-tier team, but he insists it was Arsenal who handed belief to their hosts. Arsenal reached the final of the League Cup last season and had been hopeful they would do even better in the competition in this campaign. However, that did not happen as they have now been knocked out by the unlikeliest of teams. The Gunners will have to focus on winning other competitions, including the FA Cup, which is their favourite tournament, but they will carry the stain of that terrible performance with them for a long time.Arteta’s FrustrationIt is probably the biggest win in the history of Town, as their fans certainly did not start the day believing that their team would earn a victory against the reigning Premier League champions. There was no sign of Arsenal dropping that poor performance before the game, and Arteta had warned his players to be very respectful of their opponents. However, they probably did not take that advice seriously, and it cost them a win against a team they should beat. After the game, Arteta said via Arsenal Media:“First of all, congratulations to Fleetwood for going into the next round. Obviously, a really sad day for us. There’s nothing to criticise the players for in terms of their attitude, their application, their determination to go and play the game that we had to play, but obviously we conceded that really poor goal to start with and gave them some belief.”(Photo by Carl Recine/Getty Images)A Lesson for ArsenalArteta’s comments show the importance of concentration to Arsenal’s success, and the club’s performance against Fleetwood was a major disappointment.Arsenal’s ambitions remain high, and every competition counts. The League Cup exit is a blow, but the club must move on._____________________________________________________________________________________________ADMIN COMMENTSo here are some simple rules which I must insist commenters follow….You agree not to give any personal abuse to other Arsenal fans.
