The half-time player ratings for Tottenham’s Premier League clash against Crystal Palace are in, with the Lilywhites heading into the break 1-0 up.Tottenham first-half player ratings vs Crystal PalaceAntonin Kinsky – The Czech international was forced into an early save following a Daichi Kamada strike that took a slight deflection. Aside from that, he was barely threatened. 6Archie Gray – Playing at right-back for Spurs, he has helped form a back three alongside van de Ven and Van Hecke during build-up. He has also moved into advanced areas after build-up play, either underlapping or overlapping Mohammed Kudus. He was booked moments after Jean-Philippe Mateta’s sending-off and eventually opened the scoring with his first goal of the season following a corner. 8Jan Paul van Hecke – Like his centre-back partner, he has seen plenty of the ball and, since Palace went down to 10 men, has almost operated as a deep-lying midfielder as Spurs deploy a very high line. He has been tidy in possession and regularly picked the right pass. 7Credit: @thefrederikkejensen / InstagramMicky van de Ven – Started the game well and has seen plenty of the ball during Spurs’ build-up play. He showcased his passing range with a number of fizzed passes into the likes of Dominic Solanke and Omar Marmoush. He also played a key role in Mateta’s sending-off, showing outstanding recovery pace to stop a Palace counter-attack. He was caught on the Achilles by the striker’s studs but fortunately was able to continue. 7Andy Robertson – Very attacking in this encounter, often occupying spaces high on the left inside the Palace half while Mathys Tel holds the width. The full-back has consistently found good crossing positions and came close to an assist after delivering a dangerous ball towards Marmoush, which was cleared at the last moment. 6Mateus Fernandes – Looks to have picked up exactly where he left off against Chelsea in the holding midfield role. So far, he has been close to flawless, striking the right balance between joining attacks and progressing play with forward passes. 7Sandro Tonali – Has covered an enormous amount of ground, particularly tracking back where he has produced a number of important interceptions and blocks. In possession, he regularly drops away from the Palace midfield block to provide passing options for Van de Ven and Van Hecke. So far, he has barely put a foot wrong. 7Omar Marmoush – The Egyptian came into the side in place of James Maddison and is operating behind Dominic Solanke. His role is different to Maddison’s, as he is not dropping deep to get involved in build-up play or occupying the pockets. Instead, Marmoush is looking to attack the penalty area when Spurs progress the ball wide. He made an excellent run that would likely have resulted in a tap-in had Robertson’s cross not been intercepted. His work off the ball has also been very good. 6Mohammed Kudus – It has been an intriguing battle between the Ghana international and Tyrick Mitchell down Tottenham’s right flank, and Kudus has regularly come out on top, working his way out of tight situations. His creative brilliance came later in the half when he delivered a superb corner to the back post for an unmarked Gray to head home. 8Dominic Solanke – No clear sight of goal so far, but he has had a couple of touches in the opposition penalty area and linked play well with several neat passes. His efforts on goal have been blocked. 5Mathys Tel – Has looked lively and full of direct running, showing a willingness to take on defenders. He beat two Palace players before reaching the byline, only to see his cross cleared. He has also delivered several dangerous balls into the box after cutting inside. 7 The post Tottenham half-time player ratings vs Crystal Palace – Two stars earn 8/10 as Spurs lead appeared first on Spurs Web.
