Arsenal have benefited from the contributions of their substitutes this season, with players coming off the bench regularly making a difference in matches. The Gunners will hope that trend continues as some of their starting players have found it difficult to break down opponents.Every member of the squad has a role to play, and Mikel Arteta needs his players to perform whenever they are called upon. A team cannot rely on only a handful of individuals to deliver consistently, particularly over a long campaign involving several competitions. There will inevitably be matches when only a few players perform well, while substitutes sometimes struggle to influence proceedings. Arsenal, however, have enjoyed a different experience this season. Their players coming off the bench have contributed goals and helped change the direction of games. The club increasingly sees its squad depth as an important way to unlock opponents in the second half. That contribution could become even more significant as the fixtures get tougher and the Gunners face teams capable of making life difficult for their starting line up.Henry impressed by Arsenal’s substitutesThierry Henry has been encouraged by the impact of Arsenal’s bench, particularly because the team have continued to win matches even when their starters have not been at their best. The former Arsenal forward believes the players who enter games are showing that they are ready to contribute rather than simply filling out the squad. Their ability to change matches also gives Arteta useful options when his team needs a different approach.(Photo by Alex Grimm/Getty Images)Squad depth offers Arteta more optionsHenry also pointed to the quality available to Arteta beyond his preferred starting eleven. Having players capable of making an immediate impact allows the manager to remain confident when questions are raised about the involvement of individuals such as Eberechi Eze.Speaking via Metro Sport, Henry said:‘Players are coming off the bench for Arsenal and scoring. That shows you that they aren’t passengers, and usually they come on and change the game.‘That’s the luxury of having good players on the bench, and that’s why Mikel Arteta is calm when he’s asked questions about players like Eze and why they aren’t playing so much.’_____________________________________________________________________________________________ADMIN COMMENTSo here are some simple rules which I must insist commenters follow….You agree not to give any personal abuse to other Arsenal fans.
