Tiruchi district’s student teams selected for next round of National Children’s Science Congress 2026 - The HinduUpdated - October 31, 2026 09:12 pm IST - TIRUCHIStudents from various schools across the Tiruchi region participated in 32nd National Children’s Science Congress jointly organised by Tamil Nadu Science Forum (TNSF), Tiruchi District and Bharathidasan University (BDU) on Saturday.As many as seven teams from the Tiruchi district were selected for the State-level round of the 32nd National Children’s Science Congress 2026, to be held on November 27 to 29.The projects explored local sustainability challenges such as the dangers of microplastics, cleaning of waterbodies and irrigation practices, among other problems.In their valedictory address, M. Krishnan, former vice-chancellor, Central University of Tamil Nadu, Tiruvarur, and R. Manoharan, proprietor, Banana Leaf and correspondent, A.G.M Institutions, Thuraiyur, motivated the young scientists to develop a spirit of enquiry through their studies.The congress at the Kajamalai Campus of BDU was held on the focal theme ‘Science and Innovation for Sustainability.’In all, 140 students from government and private schools took part, accompanied by 40 guide teachers. Approximately 24 evaluators from various colleges, BDU and its research scholars assessed the projects.A teachers’ orientation session was held alongside the congress.The event was organised by TNSF in association with BDU’s departments of Educational Technology and Women’s Studies.
