Arsenal were knocked out of the League Cup last night by fourth-tier Fleetwood Town, and it could not have been more embarrassing for the Gunners, who wanted to win the quadruple. That competition has not been a good place for the Gunners over the last decades, as they have not won it in more than 30 years and Arsene Wenger never won the trophy.Arsenal gave their fans hope of ending the drought last season when they reached the final, where they faced Manchester City, but the Citizens beat them. Getting to that stage showed the Gunners are close to winning it, and fans expected them to win this term, but their stay in the competition ended last night when Fleetwood beat them on penalties in one of the most embarrassing performances from the reigning Premier League champions.Odegaard on the DefeatPenalties could go either way for any team, but you would always expect Arsenal to win against a team like Fleetwood, and it never happened, which Martin Odegaard admits is shameful. He said via Arsenal Media:“It’s very frustrating to go out. Obviously, the way we’ve played was not on the level. We need to do much, much better than we did today.“Frustrating, but congratulations to Fleetwood and we look forward to the next game already and bounce back.“They did well so we have to give them credit, but I think today was about us not being on our level, we need to do better. I thought we improved during the game, but again, we need to step up even more, so that’s a shame.”(Photo by Lewis Storey/Getty Images)A Setback for ArsenalOdegaard’s comments show the importance of consistency to Arsenal’s success, and the club’s performance against Fleetwood was a major disappointment. The Gunners’ ability to bounce back is a strength, and the fans expect it.The team’s quality is not in question, but the defeat is a setback, and the manager’s attention to detail is clear. The players have bought into it, and the results speak for themselves.Arsenal’s ambitions remain high, and every competition counts. The League Cup exit is a blow, but the club must move on. The coming matches will show its impact._____________________________________________________________________________________________ADMIN COMMENTSo here are some simple rules which I must insist commenters follow….You agree not to give any personal abuse to other Arsenal fans.
