I love a thorough report, but when night shift is ending and I get a 15-minute history on a patient’s hip replacement from 2008 before even hearing why they’re currently in the unit, my brain completely shuts down. Give me the code status, primary diagnosis, line access, drip rates, and what’s active. I don’t need to know that their sister lives in Ohio unless it impacts discharge today. Is this just a habit people pick up early on, or do some nurses actually prefer hearing the entire life story during handoff? submitted by /u/nightparty5 [link] [comments]
