If you've ever hosted a party at your apartment, you know the unspoken rule: the host always loses money. You front all the money for supplies, and the next day you’re forced to send awkward payment reminders on Splitwise or WhatsApp. Most hosts just give up because chasing friends for small amounts feels uncomfortable. On top of that, invite links get forwarded and uninvited crashers show up at private apartments. Commercial platforms like BookMyShow or Eventbrite are completely useless here — they require business merchant onboarding, take huge cuts, and publish events publicly. To solve this, I built LowKey — a lightweight mobile web app designed specifically for private, intimate gatherings. How it works: Host creates a private gathering link in under a minute (rules, address pin, split amount). Upfront Peer-to-Peer UPI: Guests pay the host directly via UPI to confirm their RSVP. No middleman fees or corporate payment gateway holds. Door QR Pass: Attendees receive a digital pass scanned directly via the host's phone browser camera to verify entry at the apartment door. Zero Install: Works directly in any browser without app store downloads. Try the MVP here: LowKey (Currently only for a few cities in India, but feel free to try it out). What I need help with: This is an early MVP and I'm looking for feedback from fellow builders and hosts: How does the onboarding flow feel on mobile? Would you use upfront commitment for your own flat gatherings, or would your friends resist it? I’ll be hanging out in the comments to answer questions and take notes. Tear it apart! submitted by /u/Infamous-Fall7634 [link] [comments]
