I make Cleanr, a small Mac utility. Its Cleaning Mode locks your keyboard and trackpad and turns the screen white so you can wipe it down without opening ten apps by accident. It was mostly a keyboard-cleaning feature. Then this week Apple announced the first touchscreen MacBook Pro, and "how do I clean this without tapping everything" became a real question. So I made a short video and rebuilt the landing page around it. Some things I learned building it: • The lock is a system event tap that swallows every input event while it's on. • The exit had to work without the keyboard (you're wiping it), so you hold the trackpad still for 3 seconds. Esc + Return is the fallback, and a timer unlocks it anyway. • A white screen shows smudges far better than a dark one. Cleaning Mode is free: https://www.fundrstudio.com/cleanr/ I haven't had a touch Mac to test on yet (they ship Nov 6). If you're getting one, I'd love a sanity check. submitted by /u/aeshieru [link] [comments]
