NASDAQ 100 Held the Bottom of Its Q4 Range. 30,389 Next?US Nas 100OANDA:NAS100USDTrade-LeanOctober has been a round trip for the Nasdaq 100. The quarter opened near 30,800 and ran to 31,400 in the first week, the high of the year. Then it slid all the way to 28,841 on October 23, right into the bottom of its Q4 range. That's where buyers showed up. This week it bounced to 30,045 and is now sitting around 29,530, just under the quarterly pivot at 29,660. That pivot is the level I care about. Getting back above it puts the top of the range, 30,389, back in play for the rest of the quarter. In the closest historical quarters on the same grid, about two thirds reclaimed the pivot before breaking lower, and a similar share made it to 30,389 before the quarter ended. Wrong if: 29,081 breaks before the pivot is reclaimed. Two things to keep in mind. The weekly picture is still choppy, so I don't expect a straight line. And earnings season is still running, which can push the index around in either direction. This is a call for the next two months, not for tomorrow. Not financial advice.
