I started building Club Spite as a place to vent about everyday bullshit. Bad service, subscription traps, work nonsense, companies making things harder than they need to be. Somewhere to share frustrations and compare notes. Then we started growing our X account and connecting with other builders. We kept coming across people building cool shit who were struggling to get anyone to see it. They'd made something useful, but now they had to figure out marketing, distribution and how to get their first users. We're figuring that part out ourselves. Since we'll be putting effort into marketing Club Spite anyway, it seemed like a good fit to help other builders get some visibility along the way. So we added Built out of spite. It's a free directory for people building new tools to replace frustrating existing ones, or tools that fix frustrating workflows. Things like an alternative to an app that keeps raising prices, a simpler product without all the unnecessary bloat, or something that eliminates a tedious process you've been putting up with for years. The frustration is part of the story. What made you build it? What does it do better? What are the tradeoffs? You can submit your app, share its listing and invite people who've actually used it to leave honest reviews. Listings are reviewed before going public. As we ramp up our own marketing, we'd like to feature builders through showcases, articles and conversations about what they've made and why. That's the direction we're working toward. We just opened the beta, so we're still getting the directory and its audience off the ground. https://clubspite.com/built/ If you've built something that fits, you're welcome to submit it. I'd also appreciate feedback on the directory itself: is it clear what belongs here, and what would make a listing useful enough for you to try an unfamiliar app? submitted by /u/bald_and_beard [link] [comments]
