CAT Into the Print: Gaps Above, the Line BelowCaterpillar Inc.BATS:CATStructuraMarketsCaterpillar CAT reports Q3 before the US open today, and two free Structura layers are on this daily chart: Accumulate and Blocks. Price closed Wednesday at 713.38 - down a third from the June 30 high at 1073.46, and 12.9% above Accumulate's reference line at 632.13. Accumulate is silent - and has been for 393 bars. The last stamp printed on April 4, 2025, at 288.08. The next session made the 267.30 low, and price was back below the line as late as April 21. From May the line rose underneath price and the layer went quiet while CAT roughly quadrupled into the June 2026 high. One zone picked because it sits on today's chart is an illustration, not a track record. The silence was the design: Accumulate records where positioning built, not every candle after it. Blocks shows how the decline was built. Six bearish gaps are stacked above price, each one left by a leg of the move down from the June high - from the July breakdown to the October slide. Below price sits a fresh bullish gap, left by this week's bounce off 679.50, and two older gaps further down: one between price and the Accumulate line, one just beneath it. Read together, the two layers frame the print. The nearest gap overhead is the first area a move up would meet; the fresh gap below is the first a move down would revisit. The Accumulate line is the deeper reference underneath both. Neither layer says which way the print goes. Acceptance: price holds above the fresh gap and works into the gaps overhead, with Accumulate staying silent. A gap that price trades through and holds above is no longer overhead supply - it becomes part of the record. Rejection: price falls back through the fresh gap and the older one beneath it, toward the line. A move back to the line that ends in a new stamp would start a new zone - not a verdict on the old one, but the next process, which is information too. What these layers do not tell you: which gap gets filled, or how the stock reacts to earnings. Blocks marks the area. Accumulate records what was built. The market decides the rest. Educational analysis. Not investment advice. Accumulate and Blocks are free on TradingView.
