Is it safe/recommended to run PS5 game dumps from the internal SSD on FW 13.20?

Wait 5 sec.

Hey guys, I’m pretty new to the PS5 jailbreak scene and I’m currently on FW 13.20. I do have experience with jailbroken PS4s, but on PS4 I never really had to worry about internal vs external storage like this, so I’m not sure what the best approach is on PS5. I copied a GAME as a folder dump to the PS5 internal storage and tested it. On the **first launch after copying the files, the console completely shut down**. After turning it back on and trying again, the game launched and has been running perfectly. I’ve seen mixed opinions about this. Some people recommend keeping folder/exFAT dumps on an external SSD and only using internal storage for PKG/FPKG, while others seem to run dumps internally without problems. What’s the current recommendation? Is running folder/exFAT dumps from the internal SSD actually risky, especially considering the shutdown I had on the first launch? Or was that likely just a normal jailbreak/kstuff/ShadowMount crash? If the game now works perfectly from internal, is there any reason to move it to an external SSD? I’d rather not spend around €100 on an external SSD + enclosure if internal storage is perfectly fine. Thanks! submitted by /u/silver194roo [link] [comments]
