Not looking for medical advice. Trying to learn and educate myself and get evaluated for this condition. Hi everyone! I’m trying to educate myself about POTS and would appreciate hearing about your experiences. My palpitations and high heart rate started last November. My cardiac workup was normal, but my iron levels have remained low despite taking iron supplements. Recently, during an international trip, I experienced a heart rate of 150–160(never had or seen this range before ), palpitations, and dizziness. Hospital cardiac tests (ecg, echo and holter monitor)were normal. I feel dizzy if I stand for a while and do chores around. Mild work around the house making me dizzy and exhausted. My recent labs showed iron 31, ferritin 15, iron saturation 7%, hemoglobin 10.8, and vitamin D 16. My resting heart rate is usually 90–100. When I stand up, it increases, and after standing or doing chores for 45 minutes, it can reach 120–140. It usually settles after I sit down. My primary doctor suggested getting evaluated for POTS, and I’m seeing my cardiologist tomorrow. My questions: - Does this sound similar to your experience with POTS? - Do you experience palpitations and a high heart rate when standing? - Can iron deficiency with low ferritin contribute to these symptoms, or could it be POTS? - What evaluations helped you get diagnosed? What test should I ask for? I’m 40 years old and obese, and I’m trying to understand what might be contributing to my symptoms and advocate for myself. I appreciate any insights or personal experiences. Thank you! submitted by /u/Userhere123 to r/dysautonomia [link] [comments]
