Walt Disney World has released fresh details about Santa’s Holiday Grove, the new seasonal experience taking over Santa Claus duties at Disney’s Animal Kingdom this year, and the update answers one of the bigger questions left open when the location was first announced earlier this month.Credit: Erica Lauren, Inside the MagicSanta Moves On From DinoLand U.S.A.Disney first revealed Santa’s Holiday Grove on October 6 as part of its wider holiday announcement for Walt Disney World. The resort’s holiday season is set to run from November 13, 2026, through January 6, 2027, with seasonal offerings spread across the parks alongside the separately ticketed Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party and Disney Jollywood Nights. At Animal Kingdom, the change was a necessary one. During the 2025 holiday season, Santa greeted guests at Restaurantosaurus in DinoLand U.S.A. as part of the Dino Institute Holiday Party. That arrangement came to an end when Restaurantosaurus and the rest of DinoLand U.S.A. closed permanently in February 2026.Credit: DisneyThe land is now being rebuilt as Tropical Americas, a new area drawing on the wildlife, landscapes, and culture of Central and South America. The project is set to include Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent, Antonio’s Fiesta de Encanto, and El Carrusel de los Animalitos, with an opening expected in 2027. With construction walls now standing where Santa once posed for photos, Disney needed a new home for him.A Trail Rather Than a PartySanta’s Holiday Grove will sit near Theater in the Wild, across from Finding Nemo: The Big Blue… and Beyond! Instead of recreating the party format used at Restaurantosaurus, Disney has opted for a festive trail with intermittent snow flurries and a holiday soundtrack, with Santa himself on hand to hear guests’ wish lists. When the experience was announced, Disney did not give a specific opening date, leaving guests to assume it would follow the wider holiday calendar. That gap has now been partly filled.Credit: DisneyThe Menu ArrivesAccording to Disney’s holiday food guide, food and beverages at Santa’s Holiday Grove will be available from November 13 through January 3. That lines the menu up with the first day of the resort-wide holiday season, but its final day falls three days short of the January 6 end date for holidays at Walt Disney World.Almost the entire menu is new for 2026. The savory side is led by the Pan de Jamón, a bread roll filled with smoked ham, olives, and orange raisins. The dish is a Christmas staple in Venezuela, which makes it a fitting addition to a park preparing to open a land inspired by Central and South America. A Jalapeño-Cheddar Pretzel rounds out the savory selection.Credit: DisneyBakery items make up the bulk of the offering. Two croissants share the same base, a hazelnut spread filling with a white chocolate dip, but are finished differently: the Santa Hat Croissant is styled in red and white, while the Chocolate Tree Croissant takes the shape of a decorated Christmas tree. The Mixed Berry Focaccia pairs a blackberry, blueberry, and raspberry compote with lemon icing.Cookies feature heavily. The Pistachio Cookie combines white chocolate chips with Sicilian pistachios, dried cranberries, and candied orange, while the Festive Chocolate Chip Cookie keeps things simple with holiday sprinkles. The Chocolate-dipped Mickey Gingerbread, a Mickey-shaped gingerbread cookie dipped in chocolate, is the only item on the menu not marked as new.Credit: DisneyFor something colder, the Peppermint-Chocolate Cookie Dough Brownie Ice Cream Sandwich layers double-chocolate peppermint cookie dough with vanilla ice cream and fudgy brownie–yet another seasonal twist on the viral dessert. The Cookie Butter Milkshake is topped with whipped cream, caramel, and a chocolate-dipped cookie.Adults have one option of their own in the Chilled Mulled Wine, which serves Cabernet Sauvignon mulled with fresh orange, star anise, cinnamon, and cloves. A chilled take on a winter drink is a practical choice for Central Florida, where November and December afternoons can still run warm.Credit: DisneyThe Wider Picture at Animal KingdomAnimal Kingdom has historically folded the holidays into its existing spaces rather than staging a single park-wide celebration. Santa’s Holiday Grove joins returning offerings such as the Merry Menagerie, with its winter animal puppets, and the holiday version of Tree of Life Awakenings. The new location is also another marker of how much the park is changing. The closure of DinoLand U.S.A. has already reshaped dining, attractions, and seasonal entertainment in that corner of Animal Kingdom, and the Grove is the latest piece of that adjustment.Guests visiting Animal Kingdom between November 13 and January 3 should be able to find the full Santa’s Holiday Grove menu near Theater in the Wild. Those visiting between January 4 and January 6 may find the location closed or operating differently, as Disney has not said what happens in that window.Credit: gardener41, FlickrIt also remains unclear whether Santa will greet guests for the full run. Santa traditionally ends his Walt Disney World appearances around Christmas Eve, with characters such as Santa Goofy sometimes stepping in afterward. Disney has yet to confirm whether a similar handoff is planned at the Grove. Will you be heading out to try the treats at this new location?
