I finished my receipt scanner app in July. Then spent 3 months adding "just one more feature" 😅

Wait 5 sec.

Good evening guys, I actually finished the first version of receipt scanner app back in July, but every time I thought it was ready, I'd find something else to fix or another feature I wanted to add. At some point I realized if I kept doing this, I'd probably never stop building haha. So I wanna break this loop and finally public a post about it. I know receipt scanners aren't exactly a new idea. There are already plenty out there, so I tried to focus on making the whole experience less annoying. The main idea is simple: scan your receipt and move on. No need to sit there waiting for it to process. You can capture receipts offline too, and sync when you're connected. However, I also wanted to do more with the actual receipt data. For example, instead of just showing that you spent €50 at Lidl, the app breaks down what you bought, categorizes individual products, and lets you track spending and budgets over time, inflation data, price comparison between stores (if there are enough users nearby of course) and there are many more small features that I think you guys will enjoy as well 😄 For SMBs, I also added VAT tracking for VAT reclaim and tax pre-audit summaries. And somehow I still have a growing list of features I want to build. Bank reconciliation, Email forwarding are next, but I'm forcing myself to focus on getting feedback first 😂 I personally think Bank reconciliation can be a game changer for the app itself, and I'm working hard to release it asap. Anyway, the app is already on Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.Klarion.Vespen Personally I believe it still has lots of rooms for improvement, and I'd really appreciate some honest feedback, especially on the scanning experience and whether the spending breakdown is actually useful. And for those of you who already use receipt scanners, what would make you switch to another one? Thanks to anyone who gives it a try :) Cheers and have a good one ❤️ submitted by /u/Neat-Mushroom-3735 [link] [comments]
