Sup all! I'm running Bazzite Deck 1.7.0 on a jailbroken PS5 (firmware 11.20), currently booting Linux from an external Samsung 850 EVO 500GB SATA SSD in a USB enclosure. Everything is working well, including Steam, Proton Experimental, and even XCOM 2: War of the Chosen with 83 LWOTC mods. I'm considering moving Bazzite to my Kingston XS1000 external SSD (3TB) for better storage performance, but I'd like to split the drive between Linux and exFAT. My proposed setup: ~500GB: Bazzite Linux, including its boot and system partitions. ~2.5TB: exFAT partition for storing PS5 FPKG files. Important: I only use the exFAT drive to store FPKG installation files and install them onto the PS5's internal storage. I'm NOT trying to run PS5 games directly from the external SSD or use it as Sony's official USB extended storage. My questions: Can the PS5 OS and homebrew FPKG installers recognize an exFAT partition on a USB SSD that also contains Linux partitions? Does partition order matter? For example, should exFAT be the first partition? Is it possible to install or migrate the PS5 Bazzite image to a limited 500GB partition without overwriting the entire SSD? Would the PS5 Linux Loader have any trouble booting Bazzite from this kind of partition layout? Has anyone successfully used a similar setup? I understand that flashing the Bazzite disk image normally overwrites the partition table. I'd back up my files before attempting anything. My current Samsung 850 EVO Bazzite installation is working perfectly, so I plan to keep it untouched until I've confirmed the new setup works. Any advice or firsthand experience would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! submitted by /u/Normal_Peak_4917 [link] [comments]
