The revenue generated through these initiatives is reportedly distributed among sanitation workers as an incentive.The Corporation has 10 MCCs located at Valampurivilai, Vattavilai, Kottar, Anadhaimadam (1) and (2), Rajapadhai, Vadasery, Puliyadi, Punnai Nagar, and Asaripallam. The MRFs are located at Valampurivilai (1) and (2), Vattavilai, Kottar, Thengamputhoor, and Avittam Thirunaal Corporation ground.Wet waste, including food scrap, vegetables, and fruits is transported to the MCCs and processed into organic manure. This initiative helps reduce the volume of waste sent for disposal while promoting the reuse of biodegradable waste.In September, the civic body had sold 1,745 bags of organic manure, each weighing 5 kg. Priced at ₹30 per bag, the manure sales generated revenue from the composting initiative.Similarly, recyclable material such as plastic, paper, cardboard, coconut shells, bags, and discarded clothes are segregated at the MRFs and sold for recycling. Plastic bags that cannot be segregated through conventional processes are sent to cement factories.Through these activities, the Corporation generates revenue of ₹57,085 in September while promoting waste segregation, recycling, and sustainable waste management.
