Different perspectives on raising kids: which generation is better

Wait 5 sec.

Last week, I went out of Zim for a work trip, and my 68yr old mother has been staying with my 2kids a 6yr old boy and a 4yr old girl. I got back early this morning & I went straight to see my kids. I arrived at my parents' house at 0550, and my 4yr was already awake, standing outside the kitchen door, but my son was still sleeping. So I asked my mother why my daughter was standing outside, and she said, 'ndokuti ajaire kukurumidza kumuka, kana azoroorwa anoita sei?" I blew up; I was so furious; why was she talking about marriage to a 4yr old? I packed my kids' bags and said I was taking them back home immediately. I don't understand this thinking. I understand that in their generation they were trained from birth to be wives, which is why they got married as teens, but times have changed. She is saying I overreacted, and I have to teach my kid how to be a woman at some point, but I cannot accept this type of parenting. So which generation is better? I am 38yrs old btw. submitted by /u/ZimboTechMagician [link] [comments]
