A woman wakes up from video gaming dream. Then she looks down and sees where she is: ‘I think my cat just saved my life’

Wait 5 sec.

A woman claimed she nearly fell from her balcony while sleepwalking, only to realize that her cat may have saved her life. The 36-year-old woman shared the experience in a Reddit post, reportedly after receiving official diagnoses for several parasomnia disorders. The woman recalled the incident, which happened shortly before 4:40 a.m. She claimed she had been struggling with back pain and stress after an injury left her unable to continue working. Having trouble sleeping, she purportedly turned to over-the-counter sleep aids and some alcohol to help her rest. That night, she apparently had an unusually vivid dream in which she was playing Sea of Thieves with members of her online streaming community. In the dream, she and her friends were reportedly exploring a newly released polar region when she spotted a mermaid den. As the group prepared to explore, she seemingly began climbing over the ship’s railing, and then she felt something sharp digging into her leg. The cat was there on time She looked down and apparently saw a cat with its claws in her leg. At first, she thought it was a joke involving one of her friends’ pets, and she said, “Very funny, which one of your pets is attacking me?” But when nobody answered, she gradually realized she was dreaming and began to wake up. “The ship becomes the porch/balcony of the apartment, my clothes turn into my sleepwear (oversized T-shirt and sweatpants), the strange cat turns into my tortoiseshell cat, Evee, who has got her claws in my pant leg and my other leg is lifted up over the railing.” TIFU by almost jumping off my apartment balcony (second floor) in my sleep byu/ManaSenshi intifu She realized she was suspiciously standing on the balcony with one leg lifted over the railing, while Evee had her claws caught in her pant leg. Still groggy, she carefully climbed back down, took the cat inside and shut the door. She then gave Evee some food before heading back toward her bedroom. As she became more aware of what had happened, the woman claimed she suddenly wondered whether she had nearly fallen from the balcony. She turned to Evee and asked, “Hey… did I… like, almost die just now?” Still trying to make sense of the experience, she reportedly messaged someone from her online community on Discord. “Hey, random question, Rare didn’t put out a new ice area for SoT, did they?” she texted, to which the person replied, “Uhh… no? Why?” The woman allegedly told the user that “…I think my cat just saved my life.” There was an apparent rip in her pant leg that helped convince her that she was not dreaming and that the weird incident had really happened. According to the Cleveland Clinic, they are “a type of sleep disorder that causes abnormal experiences or behaviors during sleep. These can happen as you’re falling asleep, during sleep, or right before you wake up.” Some of its symptoms include sleepwalking, talking in your sleep, not being able to remember what you did during the night, and waking up confused. Around 4% to 67% of adults around the world experienced parasomnia in their lives, as per a study by Singh et. al. (2018).
