Greedy Pumpking is up there as one of the best new online slots when it comes to wilds. Not only do they substitute for other symbols, but they also move, merge and multiply payouts up to a heady 10,000x.This Greedy Pumpking slot review is my expert take on why these symbols help this Thunderkick creation stand out from the crowd.Greedy Pumpking factsheet Name: Greedy Pumpking Software developer: Thunderkick Slot type: Video slot Paylines: Cluster pays Reels: 7 RTP: 94.15% Volatility: High Theme: Halloween Bonus round: Free spins and moving wild multipliers Minimum bet: £0.20 Maximum bet: £5 Min Coins Per Line: N/A Max Coins Per Line: N/A Min Coins Size: N/A Max Coins Size: N/A Greedy Pumpking slot summaryGreedy Pumpking is a fitting name for this Halloween-themed slot because its wild symbols snaffle up everything within reach. Like all the best real-money slots, Greedy Pumpking isn’t defined by a single feature.Cascading wins and free spins also give you ways to turn bets into prizes worth up to 10,000x. Before I talk about these features and more, here are some pros and cons to ponder. Pros Cons10,000x jackpotLow RTP ratingUnique design and layoutHigh volatility slotPowerful wilds that move, merge and multiply payouts Greedy Pumpking features: Stats, bonus spins & specialsThe best online slots these days have multifaceted free spins bonuses. Big Bass Bonanza, for example, has three levels, each with extra free spins and multipliers. Greedy Pumpking doesn’t have anything like that, but it does have special symbols that open up a world of possibilities.Greedy Pumpking slot RTP, payout & volatilityThe Greedy Pumpking RTP is 94.15%, which is surprisingly low for a slot like this. I’m not saying it’s so low that you shouldn’t play. There are plenty of progressive jackpot slots with lower RTPs. Mega Moolah is a great example (88.12%).I should also clarify that RTP values are theoretical averages. The same goes for Greedy Pumpking’s high volatility rating. Even though it’s programmed to pay less frequently than low-volatility slots, this is an overall rating. Anything can happen in a single session. So, while RTP values and volatility ratings are important, they should be seen as guides rather than rules. In practice, you could achieve a better return than the RTP suggests when you play Greedy Pumpking.Greedy Pumpking special featuresI’ll talk more about wild symbols later on in this Greedy Pumpking slot review, but it’s worth knowing now that they’ve got a variety of superpowers. These powers are present during the bonus round. In fact, they’re even more powerful because wilds are sticky at this stage of the game.To activate sticky wilds, you need to trigger the Greedy Pumpking free spins bonus round. Three scatters (cauldrons) in view start the bonus round. You start with eight free spins, but any scatters that appear during the bonus round give you up to three more. It’s not the most inventive free spins bonus I’ve ever seen, but the wilds elevate it. You’ll understand why when you read about how these Greedy Pumpking slot symbols work. Greedy Pumpking slot theme, audio & gameplay mechanicsOf all the creative slot game providers out there, Thunderkick is up there with the most experimental. Greedy Pumpking is a great example of this company’s desire to be different. The soundtrack sounds like it’s been ripped from a Tim Burton blockbuster, and, despite not being a live-action background, there’s a real depth to the design. These qualities alone make it an atmospheric slot, but there’s more. The more in this instance is the gameboard. Many of the best online slots break from the norm, and Greedy Pumpking does this by moving away from a standard square design. What you see when you play Greedy Pumpking on your computer or mobile is an unevenly shaped rectangle.Within the rectangle are misaligned rows of symbols that aren’t bound by traditional paylines. This leaves symbols free to fall out of and into view. It also contributes to a design that gives Greedy Pumpking a unique look that you don’t often get with Halloween-themed slots. Greedy Pumpking slot symbols, multipliers & wildsGreedy Pumpking’s slot symbols are smaller than you might be used to because there are seven reels to fill. You need at least five matching symbols from the following list to make a cluster:Blue sweetsPurple swirl sweetsGreen spider sweetsOrange disc sweetsPurple eyeball sweetsSpooky toffee applesRIP chocolate barsSwirling lollipopsWinning clusters can contain upwards of 18 symbols, and the more you match, the more you win. As it is with all the best online slots, wild symbols are on hand to help. However, in another twist, Greedy Pumpking wild symbols have special powers. For starters, they appear in two ways:Wilds appear naturally by falling onto the gameboard.Wilds appear after a winning cluster has formed.I’ve reviewed thousands of real-money slots, and I can’t recall playing a game where wilds appear each time you make a winning combination. What’s even more intriguing about these wilds is that they contain multipliers and they move.Wild multipliers are pretty common these days, but Greedy Pumpking’s are different because they’re also self-multipliers. For example, let’s say there are two wilds in view. One has a 2x multiplier and the other has a 10x multiplier. In this scenario, prizes aren’t multiplied by 12 (10 + 2). Instead, they’re multiplied by 20 (10 x 2). The other superpower Greedy Pumpking slot wilds have is the ability to move. Each cascade allows the wild to move one adjacent spot in any direction. In tandem with cascades, you’ve not only got additional chances to win prizes but also multiply them.
