I use a lot of different tools for converting and shrinking files, so I made one that lives in the Windows right-click menu. Select one file (or hundreds), right-click, pick an action. Many files open in ONE window. It all runs locally and offline, nothing gets uploaded. What it does Video: convert (remux when possible, otherwise high quality), extract audio, compress to a size limit, resize, cut a clip, cut to GIF, grab a frame, join videos, extract / add subtitles and audio tracks, optional GPU encoding Audio: convert, compress to a size, cut a clip Images: convert (jpg, png, webp, avif, jxl, bmp, tiff, gif, ico, heic), compress to a size, resize, to PDF (also searchable / combined), and several images into one GIF or MP4 slideshow where you set how long each image stays on screen PDF: compress (to a size or losslessly), merge, OCR, remove password, keep / remove / reorder pages, PDF to images / DOCX / TXT / MD / HTML Documents: txt, md, html, docx, odt, rtf, epub, tex Metadata: show (EXIF, GPS with a map link, author...) and save clean copies https://reddit.com/link/1xgsvjs/video/ua2apb84k0yh1/player "Compress to size" means you say "25 MB" or "200 KB" and it finds the best quality that still fits. Principles: lossless unless you ask for compression or a resolution change, originals are never touched, no telemetry, nothing is installed behind your back. Under the hood It's a Python/tkinter front end around ffmpeg, ImageMagick, qpdf, Ghostscript, Tesseract and a few other programs that get downloaded on install. You need Python 3 installed. MIT license. Windows only, and the interface is in English. Repo: https://github.com/nyorbee/Konwertexpol I'm the author. Feedback, bug reports are all welcome. Disclosure: I built it with the help of an AI assistant (Claude). I decided what it should do and tested it on my own PC; the AI wrote most of the code. submitted by /u/nyorbee [link] [comments]
