Hi everyone! I made a small tool for myself and thought some of you might find it useful too. At home we have a board with printed photos that we swap once a month. I wanted the picks to be truly random, without choosing by hand and without the same photos coming back every time, so I a tool for it: RandomikME. https://reddit.com/link/1xgrh21/video/fyvkwwai90yh1/player What it does Picks N random photos from a folder (subfolders optional) and copies them to another folder, so your collection stays untouched Optional “cut” mode: moves the drawn originals aside so they can’t be picked again next month Orientation filter: any / landscape / portrait (respects EXIF rotation) Never overwrites anything, duplicate names become name (1).jpg Checks everything first: if there aren’t enough matching photos, nothing is touched “Clear destination folder” button (with confirmation) for the monthly swap Remembers your folders, English / Polish UI, progress bar, retro Windows 9x look Download: ready-made .exe in Releases, or run from source (Python, Tkinter + Pillow, MIT license). Built and tested on Windows. 👉 https://github.com/nyorbee/Randomik Heads-up: the .exe isn’t signed, so SmartScreen or your antivirus may warn about it. The full source is in the repo if you’d rather run or build it yourself. Transparency: I wrote this with a lot of help from AI (Claude), then tested and tweaked it myself on my own photo collection. submitted by /u/nyorbee [link] [comments]
