The Trump administration has not decided whether to intervene in Israeli coalition talks.By Vered Weiss, World Israel NewsPresident Donald Trump’s administration has not decided whether to intervene in efforts to form an Israeli governing coalition following Tuesday’s election, a US official told The Times of Israel, rejecting reports that Washington favors specific coalition arrangements as “false and premature.”The official said election results were still coming in and that it was too early for the administration to make decisions about involvement in the coalition process. With most ballots tallied, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s Likud emerged as the largest party, but neither Netanyahu nor the opposition bloc led by Yashar chairman Gadi Eisenkot has a clear path to forming a government. Both blocs remain short of the 61 seats required for a Knesset majority, while Arab-led parties, which also oppose Netanyahu, hold 19 seats.President Trump, meanwhile, said his endorsement of Netanyahu helped improve the Likud leader’s showing in Tuesday’s election, arguing that his intervention “turned the whole tide.”Speaking near Air Force One after a trip to Texas, President Trump said Netanyahu had performed better than expected and disputed the exit polls.“When the endorsement went out, it helped him a lot.”President Trump also reposted a comment on X from Canadian businessman Irving C. Schwartz crediting his endorsement with Netanyahu’s performance.“When President Trump endorsed Bibi Netanyahu, the whole tide turned, and now, rather than a decisive defeat for a Great Prime Minister, it looks like a big come-from-behind stalemate, or even a WIN for Netanyahu.”The post continued, “It all took place AFTER the Endorsement by President Trump, who only wants what is good for the Middle East, Israel, and the United States of America!”President Trump had directly appealed to Israeli voters on Sunday to support Netanyahu, repeating an endorsement he said he had issued one week earlier and describing their relationship as one of “winning together.”“When you go to the Polls please remember that Bibi has been an outstanding Warrior Prime Minister!” Trump wrote. He cited Operation Midnight Hammer, which he said prevented Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon, along with Operation Epic Fury. President Trump said Iran now has “No Navy, No Air Force” and described its military and economy as “in shambles.”“Vote for Bibi Netanyahu for Prime Minister, we have to finish the job that we started,” he concluded.Following Tuesday’s election, President Trump said he and Netanyahu now need to “finish the job” against Iran, either through a deal or by other means, as US negotiations with Tehran continue, Channel 12 reported. The post Trump administration has not decided whether to intervene in Israeli coalition talks appeared first on World Israel News.
