US firm unveils Lego-like modular kits to build tailored AI, robotics, and drone hubs

What if you could build an office, security checkpoint, or robotics facility using Lego-like blocks? The structure could be assembled near where it is needed, expanded as requirements grow, and even dismantled and moved to another location. Two U.S. companies are working to turn that idea into reality. Florida-based Tesseract Ventures Tuesday announced an initiative to develop modular technology-enabled infrastructure in partnership with Kentucky-based Lok-N-Blok that can be rapidly deployed and customized for different applications. The infrastructure, called Tesseract Synthetic Brick Technology Kits, will use Lok-N-Blok’s modular building components, which resemble Lego-like blocks.Rather than adding technology to conventional buildings or shipping containers, the kits are designed with the technology built into the structure from the beginning, the company said in a statement.Tailored to needsAccording to the company, the systems can be digitally designed, packaged for transport, assembled near the deployment site, expanded as requirements change, and dismantled and redeployed elsewhere. To meet the customer’s needs, Tesseract will tailor the finished solutions, read the statement. Depending on the application, the kits could include sensors, cameras, communications equipment, drone storage and launch systems, robotic fabrication equipment, and other integrated technologies.”We see an opportunity to rethink the relationship between infrastructure and technology,” said John Boucard, Founder and CEO of Tesseract Ventures. “Instead of putting our technology inside a box that was designed for something else, Tesseract Synthetic Brick Technology Kits allow us to design the structure around the mission.”Company officials said the kits can start as small installations using standardized building blocks and technology modules before expanding into larger operational environments.”Lok-N-Blok was created around the idea that construction could become more modular, efficient, and adaptable,” said John Lewis, CEO of Lok-N-Blok.“Tesseract brings a powerful technology layer to that idea. Together, we have an opportunity to explore how modular construction can become the foundation for intelligent, rapidly deployable operational environments,” he added.Reusable components to fit different rolesBeyond rapid deployment, the companies are positioning reusability as another key advantage. Standardized technology components can be reused to create different configurations without redesigning an entire system for every deployment. The partnership could also enable Tesseract to develop reusable technology packages, such as Access & Security, Smart Space, Drone Operations, Communications, Sensor, and Forge Fabrication kits, that can be incorporated into different structural configurations.Initially, the companies expect the technology kits to serve four key markets: defense, construction, critical infrastructure, and agriculture, the statement read.In defense, the systems could support drone operations, forward command centers, communications nodes, sensor hubs, and mobile fabrication capabilities. Construction applications include project command centers, secure workspaces, guard stations, and autonomous drone inspection stations. For critical infrastructure, the kits could be used as remote operations centers, emergency-response facilities, utility inspection hubs, and communications nodes. In agriculture, the systems are envisioned as field operations centers, drone stations, equipment hubs, and distributed farm intelligence facilities.
