Tottenham Hotspur return to Premier League action against Crystal Palace on Saturday, and there are five big questions we want Roberto De Zerbi to address in his next press conference. How serious is James Maddison’s injury?James Maddison finally made his first start for Tottenham in 536 days during their 3-1 victory over Coventry City, marking the occasion with an incredible goal. In the following weekend, however, the midfielder went down just five minutes into the second half of the 2-0 win over Chelsea. The England International had apparently missed three days of training after that game, but De Zerbi still decided to name him in the starting XI the following weekend at Stamford Bridge despite initially being unsure about his availability. Unfortunately, Maddison went down just five minutes into the second half of the 2-0 victory, due to what appeared to be a groin issue. The Spurs head coach played down the severity of the problem after the match, but admitted that he would know more following medical checks the next day. We have not had any further updates on Maddison’s condition since, so this will surely be one of the first questions De Zerbi will face on Friday.Credit: @thefrederikkejensen / Instagram2. Is Pedro Porro fit enough to start for Tottenham?Pedro Porro picked up a hamstring injury during last month’s 3-2 defeat to Aston Villa and only returned to the matchday squad for the trip to Stamford Bridge last weekend.De Zerbi confirmed that the Spaniard was available again before the Chelsea game, but opted to introduce him from the bench with around 25 minutes remaining. Porro did not appear to show any obvious signs of being out of shape, which was encouraging.Keep in mind, Porro is Tottenham’s only natural right-back and we will want some clarification on whether he is ready to start against Palace, or whether the manager is still planning to manage his minutes carefully.3. Has Destiny Udogie trained this week?Destiny Udogie has started just two Premier League games this season because of persistent fitness problems, with his most recent appearance coming in the 1-1 draw against Manchester United earlier this month.De Zerbi revealed that he had not worked with the Italian since that game, and Udogie subsequently missed the victories over Coventry and Chelsea. There was some encouragement on the matter last weekend, however, when De Zerbi suggested that Udogie ‘maybe’ could be available for the Palace fixture.Naturally, we want to know whether the left-back has returned to training this week, how many sessions he has completed and whether he has been working individually or alongside the rest of the squad, and, if he has been able to train without feeling any pain.Plenty of questions for De Zerbi, who he will definitely have answers to all of them.4. Was De Zerbi pleased to see Harry Kane win the Ballon d’Or?It has been a rather good week for Tottenham supporters. First came the end of the club’s eight-year wait for a Premier League win at Stamford Bridge, followed by academy graduate and top scorer Harry Kane winning the Ballon d’Or on Monday night.De Zerbi had already campaigned for the former Spurs man in his previous press conference, saying: “Harry Kane deserves to win the Ballon d’Or in my view. He is a 9, a 10, he is a number 2, number 6 – a total player.”Kane also thanked Tottenham in his speech after receiving the award. Possibly, then, this might come up at some point during De Zerbi’s press conference. 5. Does Roberto De Zerbi believe Tottenham have finally turned a corner?‘Sbloccarsi’. That was the word De Zerbi used to describe what Tottenham needed to do during their miserable start to the Premier League season. The Italian term translates roughly to unblocking or loosening up.Tottenham had been playing some really good football, dominating their opponents and creating plenty of chances, only to repeatedly fail to take them. Then came the team-bonding trip to Marbella, Spain. Since returning, Spurs have won both of their matches, beating Coventry 3-1 before following it up with a historic 2-0 victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.Tottenham look much more confident in front of goal, the midfield is beginning to click and the team appears to be developing a better understanding of De Zerbi’s ideas.Of course, two wins do not mean every problem has suddenly disappeared. But they provide a much-needed platform for the club to build on, especially after the difficult opening weeks of the campaign.De Zerbi will surely be asked what has changed, whether he believes his side have finally turned a corner and what he expects from them against Palace. After all, the real test is whether Tottenham can maintain this momentum rather than slipping back into their old habits.READ MORE: Tottenham have three big advantages over Crystal Palace ahead of Premier League clash – Spurs WebThe post Five questions we expect Roberto De Zerbi to answer ahead of Tottenham vs Crystal Palace appeared first on Spurs Web.
