Troy Deeney says teammates don’t trust Arsenal man

Wait 5 sec.

Troy Deeney has remained critical of Viktor Gyokeres as the Swede continues to struggle at Arsenal, and his second season at the club could prove worse than his first. Most players improve year after year after joining a new team, which is why Gooners expected Gyokeres to perform much better than he currently is.The Swede joined Arsenal as one of the most expensive signings on the continent in the summer of 2025, and the club were confident they had secured a top striker to improve their attacking options. Much was expected of him after his move to the Emirates, but so far he has struggled to make a meaningful impact on the Arsenal team.A Difficult Second SeasonThis season, Gyokeres is not receiving as much game time as he did last term, and when he does play, there is an obvious lack of connection between him and his teammates. That has limited his ability to influence matches and has raised further questions about his adaptation to Arsenal’s style of play.Arsenal need their expensive attacking signing to deliver consistently, particularly in a squad with high expectations. Unless Gyokeres can build stronger relationships with those around him and regain confidence in front of goal, his second season could become even more difficult than his first.(Photo by Matt McNulty/Getty Images)Deeney Questions Teammates’ TrustWith that in mind, Deeney believes Gyokeres’ teammates do not trust him enough to give him the ball during matches. As quoted by the Metro, he said: “They were trying to get him out the door, remember he didn’t play until the window closed.“So there was that moment for him where he was feeling unloved, unwanted; he’s gone to Sweden, scored six in six, so he’s got the confidence when he’s away.“But with Arsenal, and I say it week in, week out, but the other part to it is that the players don’t trust him.”Deeney’s comments suggest that Gyokeres’ problems may extend beyond individual form. If Arsenal are to get the best from him, they must help him feel integrated, trusted and confident within the team._____________________________________________________________________________________________ADMIN COMMENTSo here are some simple rules which I must insist commenters follow….You agree not to give any personal abuse to other Arsenal fans.
