devlog: a free, local-first VS Code coding tracker with daily goals and achievements

Wait 5 sec.

Hi r/SideProject! I’m sharing devlog, my free, open-source VS Code extension (v1.2.0). It tracks active editing time and opens a local browser dashboard with coding time, languages, project activity, streaks and a daily goal. There are also 229 achievements and 36 titles to work toward. No account or subscription is needed. Your activity stays on your computer; devlog does not collect analytics or upload your code. One limitation: it counts active editing, not all development work. Reading, terminal work and time in other apps are not counted, and tracking stops after a minute without an edit. Install: https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/items?itemName=ardazeybek.devlog-coding-activity GitHub: https://github.com/ardazeybek/devlog The demo uses sample activity. I’d appreciate feedback: would daily goals and achievements help you build a coding habit, or would you mainly use the activity dashboard? Bug reports and feature ideas are welcome. submitted by /u/azeybek_dev [link] [comments]
