Question for the travel nurses: how common is it really for you to be floated to other units during a contract (if you are ICU or another specialty)?

Wait 5 sec.

I have heard in the past that travel nurses face a lot of hostility at different facilities and are often floated many times to another unit (for example, ICU to med surg), to the point where they mostly aren’t even working in their own specialty. Is this still the trend currently? If you are a traveler, does this happen pretty frequently regardless of state? I am wondering if this is something that is exaggerated on social media or whether it is common and travelers just take it in stride because they enjoy the lifestyle and seeing different parts of the country. Or was the floating and poor treatment the reason that you stopped traveling? submitted by /u/Necessary-Watch-2311 [link] [comments]
