24F, RN, and already miserable. What are some-clinical career paths worth exploring?

Wait 5 sec.

I’m a 24-year-old RN with my BSN, currently working on a very busy med-surg/tele unit, and I’m honestly starting to hate my job. 🥲 I’ve always known bedside nursing wasn’t something I wanted to do long-term. Even in nursing school, I was much more interested in the management, administrative, and business sides of healthcare. I always pictured myself eventually transitioning into something along those lines, but figured I’d get some bedside experience first. What I DIDN’T expect was to feel this miserable and desperate for a change so early in my career 🥲 On top of the mental and emotional exhaustion, I’ve been dealing with increasingly severe chronic neck, shoulder, and upper-back pain that’s only getting worse as time goes on. I’m only 24 and genuinely don’t think my body can handle this type of physically demanding work much longer. It’s to point where it’s significantly impacting me at work but I have no choice but to just push through. At this point, I don’t even think switching specialties would solve the bigger issue. I’m realizing that clinical nursing in general just isn’t where my interests lie. I’d much rather explore the behind-the-scenes aspects of healthcare, like administration, operations, management, business, etc. I’ve considered pursuing an MBA or MHA, but I’m hesitant without knowing whether it’s actually worth it. For anyone who has transitioned out of bedside, especially into non-clinical roles: What do you do now, and how did you get there? Are there any career paths you’d recommend exploring with a BSN, even with limited nursing experience? I’m open to ANY and ALL recommendations/suggestions. I just feel stuck rn and don’t know where to even begin when it comes to looking into other paths. Thank you!!! submitted by /u/Delicious-Zone-361 [link] [comments]
