This started while I was hanging out with a friend. He said every TV remote app he downloaded seemed to show ads or ask him to pay. I thought I'd make a simple one for him, then got carried away with making it customizable. OpenTV-Remote lets you drag and resize controls, choose presets and colors, save layouts, and add shortcuts to supported TV apps. There are native Android and iPhone projects, with local Wi-Fi discovery and pairing rather than a cloud account. I built it with substantial AI assistance/vibe coding. Instead of adding ads or paid unlocks, I released the source under MIT so anyone with the same problem can use or adapt it. It's still a development release: Android installs from an APK; iPhone currently needs Mac/Xcode. Android TV control has been used on a real MiTV, while other providers and newer features still need broader hardware testing. Compatibility depends on the TV and app; this isn't a promise that it replaces every remote.
