Would you pay $15 for a 3D model that will eventually become free?

Wait 5 sec.

I've been exploring a community-funded sales idea for 3D model marketplaces. Imagine a creator sets a $100 funding goal for a model. Instead of waiting for one buyer, anyone can contribute toward the goal. Supporters who contribute enough (say $15) can get early commercial access under a restricted licence. Once the creator receives the full $100, the model becomes free for everyone under CC0, meaning anyone can use, modify or redistribute it. Creators reach their revenue goals, marketplaces earn commissions, and the community eventually gets free models. But would people actually pay for early access, or just wait for the free release? I designed two UI concept mockups to illustrate how this might work. Would you use something like this? What's the biggest problem you see? submitted by /u/Alternative-Way4941 to r/3Dmodeling [link] [comments]
