What's really funny/infuriating about the theft is my dad is an insanely generous guy. She wouldn't let my dad buy her ice cream (technically against agency rules but it's a rule to protect more impaired clients and is one everyone breaks with people like my dad, the office even knows he buys his caregivers food because it makes him happy ) when she'd take him to the local ice cream parlor, yet she stole from him. His current caregiver (who does let him do things like buy an extra pizza for her to take home to her family when we're getting pizza) is like "that woman was not only dishonest but an idiot. All she had to do was hang around long enough with your dad and she could have gotten plenty out of him without the criminal record." It took her ten months to plead to theft from a vulnerable adult because she kept trying to demand leniency because she has a kid and claims she has kleptomania. Prosecutor was like "well then you should have taken a different job, where stealing is not as serious a crime." She was less than a week away from trial, I'm guessing her lawyer finally got through to her she was being an idiot given that she both confessed to the cops and we had video for the last $680 she took.
