Luka Vuskovic £100m transfer update: How much Tottenham could earn from sell-on clause

Luka Vuskovic has quickly become one of the most sought-after young defenders across Europe, just a few months on from leaving Tottenham Hotspur.Spurs fans were drooling at Vuskovic’s performances on loan at Hamburg last term, and the expectation was that he would be a starter for the Lilywhites this season. However, Roberto De Zerbi’s side decided to sell the 19-year-old to Brighton for £50m in the summer, and replace him with Jan Paul van Hecke, who the Tottenham boss previously worked with at the Seagulls. That fee already looks a bargain for Brighton, with reports indicating over recent weeks that Chelsea, Barcelona and Bayern Munich are all plotting moves for Vuskovic after his brilliant start to life in the Premier League.Photo by Mike Hewitt/Getty ImagesLiverpool enter race for former Tottenham star Luka Vuskovic but Brighton have other ideasFootball Insider have now revealed that Liverpool have also expressed interest in the Croat who left Spurs in July without playing a single competitive game for the North Londoners. The report explains that Andoni Iraola is keen to add to his centre-back options next year, particularly with Virgil van Dijk potentially on his way out when his contract at Anfield runs out next summer.Vuskovic is one of the options that the Reds are exploring, but Brighton are remaining firm on the player they signed from Tottenham in the summer. The Seagulls currently have no plans to sell the centre-back despite the growing interest in his services. This has also been backed by Pete O’Rourke, who told the website that it would take a huge offer to prise the teenager away from the Amex Stadium. The journalist told Football Insider about Vuskovic: “It will take a huge fee to even make Brighton entertain losing him, which they’re not. They want to keep hold of him. He’s just arrived and is having a great impact down on the south coast.“There’s been talk of Real Madrid also being interested in Vuskovic, and I’m sure Liverpool, as well as a lot of the top guns, are keeping tabs on the Croatian international. He does look like a player with huge potential who probably will only get better and better.”Brighton allegedly believe that Vuskovic is already a £100m talent, so it will take a huge bid to get him away from the South Coast in 2027.Spurs may end up making a huge fee on VuskovicWhile many have questioned Tottenham’s decision to replace Vuskovic with Jan Paul van Hecke, the Lilywhites may end up making a huge fee in total on the Croat, who they signed for just £9.5m back in 2023 from Hajduk Split. Not only did Spurs get £50m from Brighton, but the Lilywhites have also retained a 20 per cent sell-on clause on Vuskovic. However, it depends whether Spurs agreed a sell-on clause based on the total fee or the total profit. If Spurs have a sell-on clause based on the total fee Brighton sell Vuskovic for, a £100m transfer could net Tottenham an additional £20m, giving them a total of £70m on the defender. However, if the sell-on clause is just based on the profit Brighton make on selling Vuskovic, then Spurs would just get an extra £10m.Either way, the North London club could end up making an even bigger profit than the Seagulls do on the defender, even if they sell him for £100m. Spurs can also leave all the negotiating to Brighton, and we all know how skilled they are at getting top dollar for their assets.READ MORE: Mateus Fernandes aims to become first Tottenham star to win Premier League award this seasonThe post Luka Vuskovic £100m transfer update: How much Tottenham could earn from sell-on clause appeared first on Spurs Web.
