I spent weeks building a football manager/career game that runs in your browser. Here's what I learned

Hi r/SideProject! I wanted to share my latest side project: Manager Career, a football career game that runs in the browser. What it is: two game modes. As a manager you run a club season after season (transfers, contracts, wage budget, stadium and facilities). As a player you create your footballer and make decisions in the key moments of each match. Clubs and players are fictional, it has 6 languages and autosave. Why I built it: I love career modes in football games and wanted one that is quick to open, needs no download, and where long-term decisions really matter. How: no game engine, it's a single HTML/JS file. I built it with the help of AI tools (Claude), adding one system at a time. What I learned: - A game with a lot of systems needs testing after every single change. - Players stay longer than I expected. In my own stats the average session is around 20 minutes. - Getting a game accepted on big game portals is hard. A few of them rejected mine, so I'm now trying smaller platforms and communities. It's free: https://playgama.ai/play/twr3ysrugtorj6 I'd love feedback on the first hour of play. It works best on desktop for now. submitted by /u/Car1osMBb [link] [comments]
