Arsenal failed to sign Julian Alvarez in the summer, but they remain interested in other players at Atletico Madrid, with Alex Baena one star they would love to sign in January. Baena has been in superb form for Atletico over recent seasons and is regarded as one of the top players in La Liga, having consistently performed at a high level. The Gunners believe Baena has the quality to succeed for them and have been working behind the scenes to explore a potential deal. A January move has been considered internally at the Emirates, as Arsenal would like him to join their squad for the second half of the season.Atletico Determined to Keep BaenaHowever, Baena is a key player for Atletico Madrid, and the Spanish club have recently shown that they have the resources to retain their most important players. They do not need to sell, which makes a midseason departure unlikely. As reported by Football Insider, if Arsenal push to sign Baena in January, they are expected to fail. Atletico do not want to lose him during the season and would prefer to keep him in their squad until the end of the campaign.(Photo by Mike Hewitt/Getty Images)Why a Summer Move May Suit ArsenalAlthough that would delay Arsenal’s plans, waiting until the summer could work in their favour. By then, the Gunners would have a clearer understanding of their transfer priorities and how best to approach the market.Baena’s continued presence at Atletico would also give him more time to develop further, although it would complicate any potential deal. For Arsenal, the priority will be to remain patient, maintain their interest, and be ready to act if Atletico’s position changes at the end of the season._____________________________________________________________________________________________ADMIN COMMENTSo here are some simple rules which I must insist commenters follow….You agree not to give any personal abuse to other Arsenal fans.
