I've been working on a side project since 2019 (or actually since 2012 but long story short..) I've been keeping records of my locations (from my phone) and just storing them together with heartbeats. I tried to maintain a Day One diary also. Plus all the photos on my phone. But no other manual life logging, just whatever the phone knows on its own. With the idea that maybe, one day, some kind of clever software would make sense of it all and be able to talk back to me about it. Sure that sounded crazy back then but fast forward we're in 2026 and it suddenly became possible somewhat. I didn't want (and really couldn't afford to) run all of that through OpenAI / Anthropic / etc BUT recently local LLM models that RUN ENTIRELY ON MY OLD IPHONE came around and became just about smart enough to do something useful. So I ended up with mymo: local / personal / private life journal that I can talk to. But the main kick is learning - it can go through all my photos etc, describe what's in them and after a while it can tell quite a lot, e.g. where I live, what my habits are, my family and even remember birthdays and sometimes figure out kids age etc. I am amazed. Sure, it still gets a lot wrong, can't count yet properly and can mix up month names and similar. But things have been getting better recently and fast. So I stay hopeful. I'm giving it away for free really and I have whopping 18 testers including myself, my wife and some friends who care enough to download a 3GB app. So a great business it is yes.
