Hi everyone! I’m the CEO of a small Croatian game studio, and we’re currently developing a narrative adventure game under NDA. We’re looking for an experienced 3D Concept Artist / Visual Development Artist to help us create a set of professional character and environment concepts for the grant application. The artwork will be used primarily for our Creative Dossier for a Creative Europe MEDIA development application, and later as visual direction/reference material during game development. We are currently thinking about roughly 10 polished concept pieces, including several environment/gameplay scenes, the main robot character, an elderly human character, and potentially a few additional supporting characters. We are especially interested in artists who use a hybrid workflow such as Blender / Unreal Engine / Unity for blockouts, camera composition and lighting, combined with Photoshop paintovers or other 2D finishing techniques. The final images should feel like believable scenes from a real narrative video game rather than movie concept art or photorealistic illustrations. The project already has a defined narrative/art direction, characters, locations, scene descriptions, moodboards and visual references. We are looking for someone who can take those ideas, challenge them where necessary, and turn them into a coherent professional visual direction. A big plus would be previous experience creating concept art or visual development material for: game development pitches / publisher pitch decks grant or funding applications Creative Europe or similar cultural/game funding programmes shipped indie, AA or AAA games Previous work on a recognised game project is also a strong plus. This is commercial work, and we will require appropriate usage/IP rights for the final artwork. Budget: approximately €2,000–€5,000 , depending on experience, portfolio, workflow and final scope. We are open to discussing per-piece, day-rate or project-based pricing. One important requirement: we need to be able to receive a proper invoice. You should either have a registered company/business yourself or be able to invoice us through a studio or another registered business entity... If you’re interested, please send me: your portfolio, relevant game-development work, any examples of 3D concept art / paintover workflows, shipped-game credits if applicable, your usual rates, and your availability. If you’ve worked specifically on game pitch decks, Creative Dossiers or funding applications, please mention that as well, that experience would be particularly valuable for us and in that case we're willing to go for even a higher hourly rate if needed! Same goes for those of you that worked on AA or famous indie game titles in the past, willing to go over the max budget in case your portfolio justifies it. Thanks!
