Q4 GUIDANCE IS AMD's FATEAdvanced Micro Devices, Inc.BATS:AMDlittyalpha AMD reports Nov 3rd after close. last earnings they put up a record quarter, $11.5b with data center doubling to $6.7b, and the stock still fell about 9% after hours. but that was after the stock had already more than doubled that year. this time - it's down about 14% off the $658 Oct high going into the print. different setup entirely imo. since last report the deal flow hasn't slowed. META expanded the partnership on Oct 27th: with helios racks running at meta, epyc behind their muse agent, instinct in production, and amd put $1b into meta's equity offering. hpe landed a $1.2b helios order for vultr, and amd agreed to buy world labs for $8.2b. on top of what was announced on the last call, anthropic's 2 gigawatts of mi450 and microsoft deploying helios at scale on azure. (that's up to 14 gigawatts contracted across openai, meta, microsoft, and anthropic.) if all that isnt enough for a guidance raise - ORCL launched the first publicly available helios supercluster. 50,000 mi450s rolling out last quarter and expanding in 2027. helios started shipping in september, with first units already installed at openai, meta, microsoft, oracle, and anthropic, and production scaling from q4 through the first half of 2027. the selloff drivers don't touch that backlog. GOOG print scared everyone, $51b in capex and negative free cash flow in a quarter, but google builds its own tpus. they're not buying amd's gigawatts, so even if google pulls back it doesn't cancel amd's orders. meta is going the other way: muse is out, the amd deal just got bigger, and they're raising equity while the buildout expands. same with intel. their pc business fell 5% and they expect the pc market to keep shrinking into late 2027. that's intel's problem. their own data center and ai segment grew 78%, the fastest in 15 years. even the pc company can't hide ai demand. then there's anthropic, which filed to go public as ANT. a public anthropic has public market capital to fund exactly the deployments amd supplies, and their 2 gigawatts start next year. the bar is amd's own: they guided q3 to about $13.0b and said data center more than doubles in 2027. beat the guide, guide q4 strong, hold the 56% margins they guided, and reaffirm 2027. A guidance beat on the consensus would be the next leg up imo.
