Is it just me or is preceptor burnout becoming way more common on med-surg?

Wait 5 sec.

We’ve had continuous cohorts of new grads coming onto our unit for the past six months straight. I love teaching and I remember how terrifying it was starting out, but orientation periods feel like they’re getting squeezed while patient acuity is going up. By week 4 or 5, you're not just guiding them through orders and time management—you're basically carrying two full workloads while trying to keep your own license safe. How are your units handling preceptor fatigue right now? Are people actually getting preceptor pay or built-in lighter assignments, or is management just throwing you to the wolves? submitted by /u/GasSlight8278 [link] [comments]
