This was removed from another sub Reddit because the question has been asked a few times. However, I’m hoping mods will let it stay up because I’m asking for very specific suggestions while the other posts were generic “what’s a good gift” questions. I spent 11 days in the trauma unit due to a shattered ankle as well as my tibia and fibula. Every single nurse, care assistant, Cleaner I came across was absolutely wonderful. I did my best to remember their names, and I would love to get them gifts. I think doing something personalized for the two dozen or so people I saw might be a bit much? I’m wondering what gifts they would appreciate that would help in their daily life and work in general. One of my thoughts was a small keychain dry erase marker. They were always having to chase one down to write on the board in my room; I thought having a keychain one might help make that easier and less of a waste of time than running around trying to find one for the room. I thought of compression socks, but would that mean a variety of sizes and would that be something they like? I hesitate to do sweets or any sort of food. We already did give out saltwater taffy to some of them, but a few others were staying away from sugar, so I feel like they would be left out unless I found randomly guessed the non-sugar food they like. A few of them mentioned bringing food from home to save money, maybe some bento boxes? Hair ties or scrunchies? They also all rotate around one floor through different pods. Would sending one care package with all their names ensure they each get something or do I need to worry others will grab them instead? Obviously, I would not have chosen to have to be in the hospital, but so much respect for every person that works so hard and with such great attitudes. I don’t think these people get the credit they deserve for everything they put up with, and I am full of gratitude for how much they helped me throughout my stay. submitted by /u/Cat-Zoomies [link] [comments]
