Three Chimneys homebred and this season's GI Toyota Blue Grass Stakes runner-up Ottinho (Quality Road–Quiet Giant, by Giant's Causeway) has been retired and will stand at Three Chimneys in 2027. Ottinho is a half-brother to Three Chimneys sire star Gun Runner, while his dam is a half-sister to Horse of the Year Saint Liam.“Ottinho impressed us from the very beginning,” said trainer Chad Brown. “He announced himself as one of my Derby horses late in his 2-year-old year. After breaking his maiden impressively at two, we started mapping out a Classic campaign. In just his fourth start, he qualified for the Derby with a runner-up performance in the Blue Grass, which remains the fastest two-turn race for 3-year-olds in 2026. On the track, he reminded me of some of the best Gun Runners I've had, namely Sierra Leone and Early Voting.”Ottinho did not run in the Derby, but did make a Classic race, last seen in the GI Belmont Stakes at Saratoga. Prior to the Blue Grass, he also placed in the Withers Stakes at Aqueduct.“Ottinho has the pedigree, talent, and looks that make Three Chimneys truly believe in his prospects to be a real success at stud, and we will support him with confidence,” said Three Chimneys Chairman Gonçalo Torrealba. “We invite breeders to join us by offering him at a great price.”The bay retires with a record of 5-1-1-2 and earnings of $344,700.“Ottinho is a great-looking horse who has been a star since birth and will get supported by handpicked mares,” said Three Chimneys Vice Chairman Doug Cauthen. “He won as a 2-year-old and showed he had Grade I talent at three, and he was just getting good when his career was cut short due to injury.”Ottinho will stand for $7,500, stands and nurses. He is available for inspection at Three Chimneys by appointment or at the farm's open house, held Nov. 2-8 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m each day.The post Gun Runner’s Half-Brother Ottinho to Stand at Three Chimneys appeared first on TDN | Thoroughbred Daily News | Horse Racing News, Results and Video | Thoroughbred Breeding and Auctions.
