I used kwik seal before primer... is my project doomed?

Wait 5 sec.

Making a mask out of overlapping layers of EVA foam. I heat treated the foam, cut it, and glued it together. Then came the mistakes. Testing out the DAP Kwik Seal on a sample of foam, I noticed the Kwik Seal left a flakey texture on the surface. I thought this would be great for the corroded bronze look I'm going for, so in addition to using Kwik Seal on the gaps I decided to cover the whole mask in a thin coat of the stuff. It flaked up beautifully and I'm happy with the result. Next step, Plasti Dip! Or is it? I've read that Kwik Seal apparently doesn't adhere well without a primer. Did I totally goof up the order of operations? Will Plasti Dip and paint over Kwik Seal just slough off later? Should I try to strip the Kwik Seal and apply a Plasti Dip base coat, then reapply new Kwik Seal? submitted by /u/Time_Spell4014 [link] [comments]
