What’s a piece of nursing advice you received as a new grad that turned out to be complete garbage?

Wait 5 sec.

When I was starting out on a med-surg floor, my preceptor told me to never sit down during shift because it makes you look lazy to the charge and families. For six months I destroyed my feet and back trying to chart while standing up at a rolling computer cart, while every veteran nurse was sitting comfortably in the nurse's station. What’s the worst or most outdated advice someone gave you when you were starting out that you had to unlearn immediately? submitted by /u/MRCHARLI1 [link] [comments]
