Hey everyone! I'm excited to share a project I've been working on: PicoAmiibo-RP2040! It turns a regular Raspberry Pi Pico (RP2040) into a USB amiibo emulator for the Nintendo Switch 2, without requiring Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, an NFC antenna, or any modification to the console. Does it actually work? Yes! I've successfully scanned an amiibo in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and obtained Epona on my unmodified Switch 2, using firmware version 0.1.1. The Pico emulates the USB protocol of a Switch 2 Pro Controller, including the commands used for amiibo communication. How does it work? Flash the firmware onto a regular Raspberry Pi Pico. Connect it to your Windows PC. Use PicoAmiibo Manager to load your own amiibo .bin file. The Manager verifies the data byte-for-byte after writing it to the Pico. Connect the Pico to your Switch 2 via USB. Use the BOOTSEL button to trigger the amiibo scan in-game! Windows Manager 1.1.1 I've also released a portable Windows application featuring: A graphical amiibo library with search and favorites. USB connection detection and diagnostics. Amiibo loading and verification. Step-by-step Switch 2 instructions. A Tears of the Kingdom reward reference catalog. The project currently supports one active amiibo at a time on the Pico, although you can keep multiple files in your PC library. Open source The project builds upon PicoSwitch2 v2.5.0 and ndeadly's Switch 2 controller research. Full credit to the original developers for their work! No amiibo dumps, authentication keys, or copyrighted game files are included. The firmware is still experimental. Firmware 0.1.1 has been confirmed working in TOTK on my console, while the English Manager 1.1.1 has been tested on Windows separately. Broader game compatibility hasn't been verified yet.
