Kai Havertz has been Arsenal’s first choice at centre forward this season, with Mikel Arteta selecting the German ahead of Viktor Gyokeres. However, Havertz has not scored as frequently as the club would have expected, raising questions over his consistency in front of goal.Arsenal have found goals from across the team, with defenders regularly contributing to important victories. Nevertheless, the club invested heavily in both Havertz and Gyokeres, and expects its forwards to deliver regularly. When Havertz first joined Arsenal, he was not brought in specifically to lead the attack. The club initially viewed him as a midfielder, but Arteta soon recognised that he could be effective as a false nine. The manager has increasingly favoured that role, while Havertz has also played up front for Germany.Havertz still has Arteta’s backingThe German has built a reputation for scoring important goals for club and country. However, producing decisive moments is different from delivering consistently across a season. That regularity is expected of the leading strikers in the Premier League, and it is an area where Havertz has yet to convince. His place in the starting line up has surprised some Arsenal supporters, particularly when Gyokeres is available. The Swedish striker has not made a significantly stronger case for himself, but the debate over who should lead the line continues while neither player is scoring as regularly as expected.(Photo by Mike Hewitt/Getty Images)Arteta responds to concerns over goalsAhead of Arsenal’s meeting with Liverpool, Arteta was asked about Havertz’s output and made clear that the forward retains the club’s confidence. Speaking via Goal, the manager acknowledged that the team’s numbers had fallen, while also pointing to the chances Havertz has had.“No, there’s nothing to do with that. It’s true that in terms of the numbers, we have dropped those numbers.“But he certainly had the chances as well to play, and that kind of form and that kind of efficiency with the front players, it’s very common.“Full trust on him and what he’s doing.”_____________________________________________________________________________________________ADMIN COMMENTSo here are some simple rules which I must insist commenters follow….You agree not to give any personal abuse to other Arsenal fans.
