Ravical, the AI platform accounting and tax firms run on, today announced a $17m seed funding round led by MMC Ventures, with participation from existing investors Lakestar and Pitchdrive and new investor Shapers. More than 100 accounting firms across Europe already build on Ravical. The company will use the funding to strengthen its position in the UK, Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany, continue its roll-out across the rest of Europe and enter the US.Accounting firms have always grown by hiring more people and selling what those people know, but that model is under pressure. Demand for accounting and advisory work keeps rising, while fewer graduates are entering the profession and experienced staff are harder to find. At the same time, AI can now do much of the work that used to need a person, and expert knowledge is only a search away for clients and competitors alike. Ravical’s own research found that 70 per cent of UK SMEs now act on AI advice without even consulting their accountant. What still sets an accounting firm apart is its own expertise: how its best people judge, advise and deliver. In most firms, that expertise sits with individuals and reaches only the clients they serve.Ravical was founded by Joris Van Der Gucht (CEO), Ken Bastiaensen (CTO) and Benjamin Vandermarliere (CPO). Joris previously co-founded Silverfin, the cloud platform used by more than 1,000 accounting firms across 18 countries.Joris Van Der Gucht, CEO of Ravical, said: “AI is changing what clients expect from their accountants, and firms are becoming more proactive and strategic than ever before. Our role is to help them get there. Every firm will use AI, so the real question is who controls it. When every employee uses their own assistant in their own way, the individual gets better, but the firm doesn’t. We turn how a firm’s best people work into a shared way of working that AI carries out across every client. Firm leadership sees every opportunity and risk across the client base, so the firm wins more work from the clients it already has.”Mina Samaan, General Partner at MMC Ventures, said: “Accounting hasn’t yet seen the same transformative moment that legal tech has, with firms like Harvey and Legora demonstrating what’s possible. Most of the AI startups we’ve met in the space are building point solutions for a single task or workflow. We don’t believe the winners will be the firms that replace their people. Rather, they’ll be the ones that make their best people count across every client. That’s what Ravical is built for. More than 100 firms are already on the platform, which is the clearest sign yet that the profession is starting to change. We feel very fortunate to have found Joris, Ken and Benjamin, and we’re delighted to be backing them as they continue to expand into new markets.” NoYesFundraising News30 Oct, 2026
