I spent the last few months building a music player for people who still have a local library (Rust + Tauri, free & open source)

Wait 5 sec.

I have a big local music library and loved foobar2000's folder view, but wanted something that felt modern. So i built Rymembra. Stack: Rust core (cpla + symphonia for audio, SQLite for the library), Tauri 2 + React 19 for the UI. A few things I'm proud of: - Gapless playback, even across different sample rates - Loudness normalization (EBU R128) computed in the background - Folder tree that opens instantly, even on a NAS - Skins that can restyle and animate any part of the UI, with a visual editor built in - "Listen together": synced playback between PCs on your LAN, no server in between - Zero telemetry, no account It also fills gaps in your library only from legal free catalogs (Internet Archive, Audius). No Youtube ripping, by design. Avaiable on the Microsoft Store (free, auto-updates), or as an installer from GitHub. Windows only for now. What I'd love feedback on: if you use foobar2000, MusicBee or similar, what would make you try something new? submitted by /u/Electrical_Mango9872 [link] [comments]
