Newland Payment Technology (NPT), a global provider of payment terminals and technology solutions, and Aevi, the independent in-person payment orchestration platform, have partnered to make it easier for payment providers to deploy Android SmartPOS devices across different markets and merchant environments. Merchants, acquirers and independent software vendors (ISVs) need to support a wide range of customer points of interaction – such as countertop, mobile, self-service and unattended terminals – alongside all the payment methods that customers expect. Each new combination can require additional integration and certification work, increasing the time and cost needed to launch a service. The partnership combines Newland’s Android device family with Aevi’s in-person payment orchestration platform, giving banks, merchants and ISVs a simpler, cost-effective way to offer a consistent experience across different environments. Supported form factors are available through a single integration and payment application, whether at a retail counter, on a fuel forecourt, or at a self-service kiosk. Aevi’s payment application and Newland’s Android SmartPOS devices can be certified as a family for each acquirer connection and payment method. This approach can reduce the additional certification work required when introducing another supported device, helping clients expand their offering and bring services to market faster. Harry Sahota, Head of Strategic Partnerships at Aevi, commented: “Adding new payment terminals can mean significant integration and certification work, slowing down launches and limiting choice. By combining Newland’s Android device range with Aevi's payment technology, we’re reducing that complexity and making it easier for our clients to support different merchant requirements through a single integration.” The partnership allows clients to build once and serve multiple markets through a single integration, with support for international and local payment methods. Clients can choose from supported Newland devices and Aevi’s acquiring connections to meet local deployment requirements, supporting expansion into additional markets while retaining flexibility over the devices and payment services they offer. Alan Moss, General Manager, Europe at Newland Payment Technology, said: “Different merchant environments call for different devices. They might need a compact terminal at the counter, a mobile device for staff, or an unattended terminal at a self-service kiosk. Payment providers need to offer that choice without having to build a separate connection for every device. “We bring the Android SmartPOS range, Aevi brings the platform, and providers get one route to both. A single integration and family certification reduce the work involved in adding devices as merchant needs change. That means they can spend less time on integration and more time getting new services into merchants’ hands.” Paul Snelling, SVP Product & Solutions at Aevi, added: “Many years of market consolidation have forced merchants to choose between simplicity and choice. Offering a consistent experience has meant choosing between a very limited number of acquiring options or subjecting technology teams to multiple integrations and platform variations across markets and customer touch points. “Newland and Aevi offer a simple solution for technology teams without neglecting the choice that provides financial freedom to procurement teams. Cost-effective technology and payment processing through a single partnership.” Aevi and Newland NPT will be available to discuss the partnership at NRF in New York, 10-12 January 2027.
